LAPD investigators and coroner’s officials don’t believe foul play was involved in the death Tuesday of Andrew Getty, heir to the Getty Oil fortune in his Hollywood Hills home. LAPD Cmdr. Andrew Smith, a department spokesman, cautioned that it was still “very, very early in the investigation” but said that based on initial observations, “this does not appear immediately to be a criminal act.”

Andrew Getty had sought a restraining order against a woman two weeks before his death, according to court records.

Coroner’s officials and LAPD investigators remain on scene late Tuesday, waiting for a search warrant that would allow detectives to enter the home and look for any evidence.
