3-year-old girl bitten by rattlesnake remains in critical condition

A 3-year-old girl bitten by a rattlesnake Tuesday morning in Chino Hills remained hospitalized in critical condition Wednesday, a hospital spokeswoman said.

The girl, who has not been identified, was bitten on the left leg after 9 a.m. Tuesday on a local hiking trail, KCBS-TV reported. She was airlifted to Loma Linda University Medical Center in critical condition.

The girl was bitten near Soquel Canyon Road and Pipeline Avenue at the edge of Chino Hills State Park.

The park is home to venomous Southern Pacific rattlesnakes as well as gopher snakes and king snakes, which are not venomous, according to the park’s website.

Briana Pastorino, a spokeswoman for the medical center, said no other details could be releaesed.
