Two people killed, one wounded in South L.A. shooting

Two people were killed and a third was critically wounded when gunfire broke out Tuesday afternoon near a South Los Angeles street corner, authorities said.

Multiple gunshots were reported about 4 p.m. in the 2700 block of West 64th Street in Hyde Park, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

At least two victims were initially reported down and a third person was wounded, Officer Muria Banegas said.

The Los Angeles Fire Department later said there were three victims, two of whom were dead upon arrival at a hospital. A third person was in critical condition, the department said.

Police swarmed the area and were setting up a perimeter to search for the attacker.

No other details were immediately available.
