Body found on 10 Freeway in Boyle Heights may be hit-and-run victim
Authorities are investigating the death of a man whose body was found beside the eastbound 10 Freeway in Boyle Heights early Thursday, prompting lane closures that snarled the early morning commute.
The body was discovered by officers around 1:45 a.m. near the Mission Road offramp, according to the California Highway Patrol. The dead man, described as being about 55 years old, was on the shoulder and appeared to be the victim of a hit-and-run, authorities said.
A description of the vehicle that may have struck the man was not immediately available.
Two lanes of the freeway were closed for more than two hours as officials investigated the scene. They were reopened around 5 a.m.
