Camarillo brushfire fed by Santa Ana winds threatens structures

Firefighters in Ventura County were coping with strong winds as they battled a brush fire Sunday night that was threatening buildings.

The blaze broke out about 8:15 p.m. in the 1400 block of Avenida De Aprisa in Camarillo, according to the Ventura County Fire Department.

By 8:40 p.m., the two-alarm fire had spread to 3 acres and threatened structures in the area, fire officials said.

Ventura County along with Los Angeles County have been under a fire weather watch since 6 p.m. Sunday as Santa Ana conditions brought gusts between 40 and 70 mph, the National Weather Service said.

At the Camarillo blaze, firefighters reported winds between 20 and 30 mph.
