3 dead, 2 seriously injured in fiery 4-car Woodland Hills crash
Three people were killed and two others were seriously injured after a four-car accident in Woodland Hills that shut down Ventura Boulevard in both directions, officials said.
The accident occurred at about 9 p.m. Saturday in the 20900 block of Ventura.
Passersby used fire extinguishers and buckets of water to tamp down flames after a car caught fire and trapped two people inside, said Brian Humphrey with the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Eight people were involved in the crash. Three refused medical attention. Of those taken to the hospital, two were listed in serious condition.
Authorities were investigating the circumstances of the collision.
Ventura between De Soto and Paralta avenues was closed for the investigation, Humphrey said.
