Woman dies, husband critical in Carson house fire
Hoarding conditions may have played a role in a Thanksgiving Day house fire in Carson that left a woman dead and her husband in critical condition, authorities said.
Firefighters responded about 10:30 p.m. to a call about a house fire in the 2500 block of East Adams Street, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The caller said a couple was inside the burning house. But when firefighters made their way in they encountered “pack-rat conditions,” fire officials said.

The man and woman were rescued from the burning house and taken to a local hospital in critical condition.
On Friday, the woman, who authorities believed was in her 70s, died from her injuries. Her husband remains in critical condition, authorities said.
Authorities did not release her name.
Arson investigators with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
