Nitrous oxide, children found in car after head-on crash in Highland
Authorities Sunday arrested a Southern California man on suspicion of child endangerment after finding nitrous oxide in his vehicle after a head-on crash.
San Bernardino County sheriff officials said they believe 23-year-old Paul Dominguez and his passenger, 23-year-old Alicia Duarte, inhaled nitrous oxide, an anesthetic, from a canister found in the vehicle, which was involved in a crash Sunday in Highland.
His child and another juvenile who were in the car sustained minor injuries and were taken to a hospital.
Dominguez was taken into custody and booked on suspicion of felony child endangerment, possession or use of nitrous oxide and violation of parole.
Duarte was detained by police but was later released.
Social workers were notified and will conduct an investigation.
