A wayward deer was caught taking a swim in a backyard pool in Encino over the weekend.
The incident occurred about 3:15 p.m. Saturday in the 6000 block of Babbitt Avenue, where the buck ran across several properties and hopped a fence before ending up in the pool, according to a report by KTLA-Channel 5.
“It whizzed by me, into my backyard,” neighbor Don Rubin told KTLA. “I tried to corral him, but I could see that the animal was quite nervous.”
A news video showed the deer struggling at the edge of the pool before managing to climb out. Residents called the Los Angeles Department of Animal Services, and an officer was dispatched to the scene.
The deer was captured nearby and tranquilized, according to KTLA. It will be released back into the wild after it is treated for a leg injury.
