Woman found dead near Expo Line after possibly being hit by train
The Metro Expo Line was shut down in Palms on Sunday night after a woman was found critically injured from possibly being hit by a train, authorities said.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department was called to the Expo Line crossing at Bagley Avenue about 9 p.m. on reports of a train striking a pedestrian, according to Ramon Montenegro, a spokesman for the Sheriff’s Department unit that handles policing for Metro.
Los Angeles paramedics also responded and pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Her identity was not released pending notification of family.
The cause of the woman’s death was under investigation, Montenegro said.
Metro shut down the Expo Line between the Palms and Culver City stations, delaying riders. Buses were dispatched to shuttle riders between the closed stations, Montenegro said.
