Homicide detectives investigating human skull found near Sylmar
A work crew was cleaning a dry wash near the Angeles National Forest on Thursday when they made a startling discovery: a skull.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department homicide detectives confirmed late Thursday that the skull — found just after 11 a.m. in the 11700 block of Little Tujunga Canyon Road — was human.
“It is unknown at this time how or when the skull came to the location,” the Sheriff’s Department said in a statement. “No other bones were found at the time of the discovery.”
The L.A. County coroner’s office has the skull and will work with homicide detectives to identify the person and how he or she died, authorities said.
