Yes, that’s a bear wandering around a Pasadena neighborhood

A bear was seen roaming in a Pasadena neighborhood Monday evening, wandering along sidewalks and into backyards.

The bear was spotted about 7:30 p.m. near Sierra Madre Boulevard and Riviera Drive, near the Eaton Canyon Park Golf Course.

Aerial footage by KABC-TV Channel 7 showed the animal tromping down a driveway.

The state Department of Fish and Wildlife said it was aware of the bear sightings and was coordinating with the Pasadena Police Department to locate the animal.

Bears, pumas and other animals are not uncommon guests in Southern California neighborhoods, especially those along the San Gabriel Mountains such as Pasadena, Sierra Madre and Monrovia.

Last week, a black bear was spotted in a eucalyptus tree near a Rancho Cucamonga school, prompting school officials to put the campus on lockdown.

Authorities said the bear eventually descended the tree and then was tranquilized by wildlife officials, who put it in a box and planned to return it to the forest.
