After trying to find the boy’s parents or guardian, the woman brought the boy to a nearby police station, Ludwig said. Officers had not been able to determine his name or other personal information about him.

The boy was placed in the custody of the L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services. He appeared scared but in good health, Ludwig said.

But the boy was reunited with his mother late Wednesday night, said LAPD Officer Rosario Herrera. The boy had been in the care of a babysitter when he was discovered roaming alone, she said.
