Puddle of Mudd lead singer accused of vandalizing his foreclosed home

Rock stars are known for trashing hotel rooms, but in the case of Puddle of Mudd frontman Wesley Scantlin, it was his former Hollywood Hills West home that bore the musician’s rage, according to Los Angeles County prosecutors.

Scantlin, 43, is charged with felony vandalism and misdemeanor trespassing after authorities say he broke into a foreclosed property he used to live in and trashed the place last month.

Prosecutors say Scantlin hired a locksmith to gain entry and change the locks, and then proceeded to rip out the home alarm system. Scantlin then damaged the garage door and plumbing — damage totaling almost $7,000, authorities said.

A video posted on the website loudwire.com appears to show Scantlin at a concert in Ohio last week where he accuses an audience member of “stealing” his house. He then ended the show.

The Adelphia Music Hall in Marietta, Ohio, issued an apology on its Facebook page regarding the incident.

“Thank you everyone who attended tonight’s show! We apologize for the actions of the lead singer. Unfortunately it was beyond our control!,” the statement said.

Scantlin was arrested on the Hollywood Hills West property Jan. 9 and released on $20,000 bail. He’s scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday and faces up to three years in jail if convicted on all charges.
