Slow-moving pursuit ends in Seal Beach; SUV occupants in custody
A slow-moving pursuit came to an end near Seal Beach on Thursday following reports of an armed driver who may have stolen a vehicle, authorities said.
Both occupants of the vehicle were eventually taken into custody without incident.
The pursuit began about 10 a.m. at Westminster Avenue and Monroe Street in Westminster after police received a call about a possible stolen vehicle in the area, said Cmdr. Cameron Knauerhaze of the Westminster Police Department.
Officers spotted the vehicle and tried to stop it.
But the driver continued driving.

Officers followed the white SUV as it drove through Westminster, then entered Fountain Valley, later Huntington Beach and finally came to a halt on Pacific Coast Highway near Seal Beach.
At some point, police laid out spike strips, which popped at least two tires on the vehicle. Officers drew their handguns as the SUV crawled through city streets.
When the driver finally stopped near Seal Beach, officers surrounded the SUV.
A female passenger slowly exited the SUV and walked backward toward police.
However, the male driver remained inside the vehicle.
At times, he struck his arms out the driver’s side window and waived them around as a SWAT vehicle moved in closer. He later got out of the vehicle and was taken into custody by police.
