Vandalism at Trump golf course in Rancho Palos Verdes investigated
Authorities are investigating vandalism at President Trump’s golf course in Rancho Palos Verdes that resulted in $20,000 in damage, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Video posted by the Washington Post appeared to show at least four individuals in dark clothing using gardening tools to carve letters into the green at Trump National Golf Club to spell out: “NO MORE TIGERS, NO MORE WOODS.”
Authorities received a call after 8:30 a.m. from an employee, saying that “someone had dug into the grass” at 1 Trump National Drive, the Sheriff’s Department said in a statement.
The employee canceled the call “for unknown reason” before deputies arrived at the scene, deputies said.
On Monday morning, deputies visited the golf course for the report , according to the Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies said there is no suspect information.
Sgt. Thomas Anderson of the Sheriff’s Lomita station said the department was investigating the incident.
The Post said it received the video from an anonymous collective of environmental activists who said they were protesting the president’s “blatant disregard” for the environment. The newspaper said the letters of the carved message were 6 feet tall.
