Would-be robber throws chili cheese fries at fast-food worker, police say

A 40-year-old woman was arrested Sunday evening in Glendale for allegedly throwing a plate of chili cheese fries at a fast-food worker and then shattering the restaurant’s front door during a robbery attempt, police said.

The woman, identified as Jennifer Santos, entered Troy restaurant — located on the 500 block of South Glendale Avenue — and demanded money while pointing her hands in the shape of a gun, Glendale police spokeswoman Tahnee Lightfoot told Times Community News.

She then reportedly walked behind the front counter and attempted to punch a 33-year-old employee. He blocked her while a second employee came to help.

Santos then allegedly punched the second employee before throwing a nearby plate of chili cheese fries at him.

After she was escorted outside, she reportedly grabbed something from her shopping cart and threw it toward the second employee, shattering the front door of the restaurant. The 34-year-old worker sustained a cut on his finger.

Santos subsequently went to Maple Market a couple blocks away, where she reportedly attempted to steal $16 worth of merchandise.

Officers arrested her on suspicion of robbery, vandalism and shoplifting.
