Re “The shame of the Boy Scouts,” Editorial, Oct. 10
It is unfortunate that your excellent editorial concerning the discovery of a longtime coverup of sexual abuse within the Boy Scouts of America did not find room to mention the fact that a little more than a decade ago, the U.S. Supreme Court affirmed that organization’s right to legally discriminate against gays by refusing them membership.
This Boy Scouts scenario sounds way too much like the lengthy hypocritical and ignominious history of a similar repeated coverup within the Roman Catholic Church.
Hypocrisy, thy sin begins with self-righteousness.
