Letters: Why farm states have power
Re “A farm bill that works,” Opinion, June 8
Dan Imhoff and Michael Dimock can plead for agricultural reform until the cows come home, but the truth is, derailing rural America’s gravy train isn’t like taking candy away from a baby.
The problem is that rural states such as North Dakota and Iowa have just as much representation in the Senate as the much bigger and more urban states of California and New York. So the rural, smaller states have an effective veto over any meaningful reform. That must end.
The U.S. Senate is an undemocratic anachronism.
