Letters: Drones vs. drugs
Re “U.S. to boost drone flights in Caribbean drug effort,” June 23
Not to worry. Should surveillance drones ever prove effective in interdicting contraband shipments, drug cartels will develop measures to thwart them, perhaps with opposing drones.
America can’t win the drug war with whiz-bang technology. What’s needed is legalization of drugs, along with closely controlled supervision and treatment of this country’s addicts. This would reduce the demand for illicit drugs and save billions expended on fighting an unwinnable drug war.
