Readers React: No sympathy for unemployed illegal immigrants
To the editor: The illegal immigrants working at Monrovia defense contractor Vinyl Technology Inc. should feel very lucky they had a job there as long as they did. Termination is exactly what is supposed to happen when people break our immigration laws. Cheaters should get caught. (“Monrovia defense workers say they were forced out after ICE audit,” Sept. 25)
A spokeswoman with the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles made an interesting reference to “broken immigration laws,” which she feels are broken evidently because the illegal immigrants don’t have exclusive right to decide the terms of their own admission to the U.S.
The only thing that is truly “broken” is that our government does not enforce immigration laws, as it did in this case, on a much larger scale.
