Opinion: Warning, Clinton supporters: Republicans will be in charge one day
To the editor: Doyle McManus’ Machiavellian political calculations regarding “ what kind of presidency Clinton will be allowed to have” reflect the problem with our country today. (“Hillary Clinton will (almost certainly) win — but her margin matters,” Opinion, Oct. 12)
The obvious implication is that as president, Democrat Hillary Clinton will want to continue the work of Barack Obama over eight years, with the left-leaning political victors gleefully stumping the vanquished into the ground, conspicuously oblivious to the desperation of a large portion of American people who created Donald Trump in the first place.
But today’s losers will at some point become winners, and they will remember. A large portion of Americans are hurting. Will this country ever have a real uniter?

To the editor: It’s odd for McManus to tell us that Clinton can do more as president if she gets a bigger mandate. That theory was thoroughly debunked when President George W. Bush lost by about 540,000 popular votes to Vice President Al Gore and proceeded to ignore it after he was inaugurated.
It makes no difference. A win is a win is a win.
