Opinion: Why the rush on Jeff Sessions?

To the editor: Let’s see...

Dick Cheney lied, George W. Bush lied, Donald Rumsfeld lied, John Roberts lied, Samuel Alito lied, Mitch McConnell lied, Donald Trump lied over and over and over again, but Jeff Sessions is telling the truth?

To the editor: Trump’s picks for cabinet positions emphasize the difference in philosophy on the purpose of government.

For Trump, capitalism and democracy are mixed up. The purpose of capitalism is to make a profit. The purpose of a democratic government is to provide for the greatest good of the people.

Capitalism has run amok in America, with the majority of the wealth in the hands of a small percentage of the capitalists. That limits the purchasing power of the people and in the long run could destroy capitalism.

A democratic government should concern itself with things such as health care, a fair distribution of income, and social justice.

To the editor: Bewilderment suddenly clears on why a presidential nominee in America would inexplicably start praising a hard-nosed dictator of a country not friendly to America, and invite him to hack the emails of an opponent.

Also more clear: why Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) was so adamant that none of President Obama’s appointees could even be looked at until all the forms were carefully filled out for clearance but scrutiny of Trump’s questionable appointees were suddenly so unimportant that nine could be rushed through their hearings in two days. Many had not even submitted all their forms.

Was McConnell in a rush to “trump” America before it became known that our president-elect had possibly become a tool of anti-American interests after being caught again in allegedly compromising positions?
