The Metropolitan Police Department confirmed that a woman who was shot inside the U.S. Capitol Building during violent pro-Trump riots has died of her injuries at a hospital.

That’s according to two officials familiar with the matter who spoke to the Associated Press on Wednesday on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to speak publicly.

Trump supporters gather in the U.S. capital to protest the ratification of President-elect Joe Biden’s electoral college victory over President Trump.

The Metropolitan Police Department said it was taking the lead on the shooting investigation. Police did not immediately provide details about the circumstances of the shooting.

In a 30-second video posted on Twitter, a gunshot rings out as Trump supporters swarm inside the Capitol building. The camera pans over to a woman with a Trump flag wrapped around her shoulders slumping to the ground.

“A young woman was just shot in the neck right besides me in the Capitol Building,” tweeted an account with the display name Taylor Hansen, who posted the video. In a follow-up tweet, another video — also containing graphic violence and profanity — shows the woman with blood on her face and neck.

“Help! You guys! Come on!” someone screams in the background.

L.A. Times reporters Chris Megerian and Jie Jenny Zou and AP writers Michael Balsamo and Colleen Long contributed to this report.
