Simple Waldorf salad
Dear SOS: Awhile back I was at the Edendale Grill in Silver Lake for a birthday celebration. We were served a very simple Waldorf salad that was light and delicious. Can you get that recipe?

Dear Maggie: Patti Peck, executive chef, was happy to share the traditional recipe she uses, which is based on the original from the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York.
Combine the mayonnaise, sour cream and lemon juice.
In a separate bowl, combine the apples and celery. Stir the mayonnaise mixture into the apples and celery.
Spoon into lettuce cups or onto a bed of lettuce leaves. Sprinkle with the walnuts and serve.
