Trio with alleged gang ties arrested in connection with Burbank stabbing

Three reputed gang members or associates were arrested in connection with a stabbing reported Wednesday afternoon that left a 23-year-old Burbank man hospitalized, police said.

The suspects — Burbank residents Maximo De Los Santos Jr., 21, and Joshua Pimentel, 30, along with Sun Valley resident Paul Melendez, 24 — were allegedly involved in a fight with a victim that started at Robert Lundigan Park in the 2700 block of Thornton Avenue, according to Burbank Police Sgt. Claudio Losacco.

The fight continued onto the 1800 block of Buena Vista Street, though details on how it traveled were not available. From the two crime scenes, police reportedly recovered a bloody knife and a baseball bat.

Meanwhile, the victim was located more than 2 miles away, walking with an associate toward Burbank Fire Station No. 12 in the 600 block of Hollywood Way, bleeding from his neck. He’d been stabbed several times, with wounds on his neck, head and torso, Losacco said.

Both he and his associate were uncooperative with investigators.

The victim remains hospitalized in serious but stable condition, Losacco said.

Detectives are working to locate identified suspects who remain at large.

The three arrestees are due in court next week.
