Bicyclist struck by car at busy Burbank intersection succumbs to injuries
A 63-year-old bicyclist who was struck by a car last month while crossing a busy intersection in Burbank died on Tuesday, police said.
Los Angeles resident Henry Peter Kuen was biking eastbound on Magnolia Boulevard at Buena Vista Street just before 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 9 when he was struck by a car turning left onto Buena Vista Street, said Burbank Police Sgt. Claudio Losacco.
Kuen, who wasn’t wearing a helmet, suffered severe head trauma and remained in critical condition for more than a month before he died.
The driver, who was not identified, remained at the scene for questioning and was not cited or arrested, though investigators will present a case to the Burbank City Attorney’s office for filing consideration in the “near future,” Losacco said.
Police don’t believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call Burbank Police Det. Sam Anderson at (818) 238-3100.
Burbank police, who recorded four traffic-related fatalities last year, reminded commuters to avoid distracted driving, look twice for pedestrians and bicyclists, and drive at safe speeds.
