Bates endorses Steel for supervisor’s seat
Orange County supervisor candidate Michelle Steel announced Friday that District 5 Supervisor Pat Bates has endorsed her.
Steel, who is running for Supervisor John Moorlach’s seat in District 2, now has majority support from current supervisors, according to a news release. Shawn Nelson (District 4) and Janet Nguyen (District 1) have also endorsed her.
“Michelle Steel has the energy, passion and commitment to be a very effective voice on the Board of Supervisors,” Bates said in a prepared statement. “She has represented the taxpayers of Orange County at the state level for seven years and I’m confident she will continue to be a strong voice for taxpayers as a member of the board.”
Steel, a member of the State Board of Equalization, will be running against Huntington Beach Councilman Joe Carchio, Assemblyman Allan Mansoor (R-Costa Mesa) and Coast Community College District trustee Jim Moreno.
“I am honored to have the official support of Supervisor Pat Bates and a majority of the board,” Steel said in the statement. “I look forward to working with all the board members of behalf of the taxpayers, small businesses and citizens of the 2nd District and Orange County.”
