Costa Mesa officer wins compassion award
Costa Mesa Police Officer Monique Beckner was among 22 honorees recognized by the Trauma Intervention Program of Orange County for displaying compassion while on the job.
The Trauma Intervention Program of Orange County recognized law enforcement, firefighters and hospital personnel “who went above the call of duty in the past year to provide compassionate support to citizens in crisis” during its annual Heroes With Heart Awards dinner Friday, according to a news release.
Beckner was given the award for the support she offered to the girlfriend of a man who had died during a police call Beckner responded to in February.
Trauma Intervention Program volunteer Jeanine Kendzejeski was present at the call with Beckner.
“I was amazed at how kind and patient [Beckner] was with all involved,” she wrote in the release.
