Local Jiu-Jitsu team garners 23 medals
Eleven members of the Huntington Beach Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu team
combined to earn 23 medals for the club at the fourth annual
International Grappling Games held at Costa Mesa High.
The tournament brought together teams consisting of men, women and
children.
The Huntington team is instructed by two Brazilian black belt
champions, Paulo Gazze and Anderson Goncalves.
“These students have the heart and desire to be a part of
something bigger than themselves and because of their hard work and
dedication to the discipline and skill of Jiu-Jitsu, they have been
rewarded with medals.”
Members of the Huntington team to earn medals were: Daniel Santos,
three gold medals; Patrick Anastasio, gold medal; Phil Rivera, gold,
silver medals; George Rivas, two silver medals; Clint Dahl, bronze
medal; Ben Rivera, gold, silver medals; Corey Stansauk, two gold
medals; Eddy Montoya, gold, silver medals; Trevor Schaffer, two
silver medals; Noah Mendoza, gold, silver medals; Kurissa Suhr,
silver medal.
