The Newport Mesa Soccer Club’s B17 team scored seven goals in their defeat of Huntington Beach-based CFC Neue Regal. NMSC scored early and often. Josh Brusseau got his first of two goals in only the fifth minute from an assist by Shawn Shahidi. Just three minutes later, Shane Rocco popped in a short-range rebound. JuanGonzalez bagged the first of his two of the day, from a perfectly executed through-ball from Raul Munoz. CDM goalkeeper, Zak Maurer-Erickson turned away several good shots by CFC. An 85th minute goal by Kyle Danese closed out the 7-3 victory of Newport Mesa. NMSC’s defense led by Gavin Arblaster, Rex Zimmerman and Michael Delaney were instrumental in protecting the lead.
