NORTHRIDGE — UC Irvine sophomore Charles Jock broke his own school record in winning the 800 meters Saturday at Cal State Northridge.

Jock won the race in 1 minute, 46.93 seconds, passing his previous record of 1:47.46 set in March.

Jock anchored UCI’s 4x400 relay that won in 3:09.43.

Jacob Yowell, Murphy and George Hernandez ran the first three legs.

UCI finished sixth with 58.5 points as Cal State Northridge won the meet with 173.

Freshman Vanessa Houston led the Anteater women’s team with second-place finishes in the 100 (11.93) and the 200 (24.32).

The Anteater women finished eighth with 43 points as Cal State Northridge won its sixth consecutive Big West title with 193 points.

LOS ANGELES — Khunpol Issara and Sam Gould posted a 9-7 win at No. 3 doubles for the Anteaters’ lone highlight in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament Saturday at the Los Angeles Tennis Center.

No. 17-ranked Cal (13-7) won the doubles point and the three singles matches that were completed to halt the match.

The Anteaters finish 17-12.
