Coastal commissioner to speak at Wake Up! Newport
California Coastal Commissioner Steve Kinsey will give a public lecture in Newport Beach on Nov. 13 as part of the Wake Up! Newport speaker series hosted by the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce.
The event begins with a complimentary continental breakfast at 7:15 a.m. in the Friends Room at the Newport Beach Public Library, followed by the program at 7:45 a.m.
Topics of discussion may include the purpose of a local coastal plan, challenges facing the Newport Beach coast and the Coastal Commission’s strategic plan, according to an event flier.
Kinsey’s speech comes in advance of the commission’s monthly meeting, which will be held at the Newport Beach Civic Center from Nov. 13 to 15.
The meeting will address an application by Poseidon Water to build and operate a seawater desalination facility at its generating station in Huntington Beach, among other issues, according to a draft of the agenda.
The Wake Up! Newport event is free of charge, but those planning to attend are asked to make a reservation by contacting Pam Smith at psmith@newportbeach.com or (949) 729-4411.
