Man arrested on DUI, possession charges

Laguna Beach police arrested a San Juan Capistrano motorist Sunday night on multiple charges, including suspicion of driving under the influence and narcotics possession.

Officers stopped a car at West Street and Coast Highway and took Brandon Patrick Cunningham, 26, into custody at 8:23 p.m., Sgt. Louise Callus wrote in an email.

Cunningham is charged with felony possession of a narcotic controlled substance and three misdemeanors: possession of a controlled substance, DUI and use of a controlled substance, police said.

Evidence of heroin use was found in Cunningham’s car, Callus said.

“The vehicle was pulled over for speeding and weaving, indicative of a driver under the influence,” Callus said.
