Police on the lookout for suspect tied to string of cellphone thefts
Police are looking for a man who allegedly stole a display phone from a T-Mobile store in the Glendale Galleria.
At around 7:45 p.m. on March 15, the man walked into the store and grabbed an iPhone that was on display before fleeing. Tahnee Lightfoot, a spokeswoman with the Glendale Police Department, said it’s unknown how the man was able to disconnect the phone from its security tether.
Detectives suspect the same man is responsible for thefts at several Radio Shack stores in San Diego, dating back to 2014.

In those thefts, a person fitting the description of the man walked into a store and asked to see a display phone. When the store’s employee became distracted, he stole the phone and left the store.
Lightfoot said the man is also wanted in connection with with another Glendale-based incident that occurred on March 19.
He is described as Latino, in his 30s, around 5 feet 9 to 5 feet 10, wearing glasses and weighing between 180 to 200 pounds.
In security camera images from the March 15 incident, the man can be seen with facial hair and carrying a shopping bag and piece of clothing in his right hand. In images from March 19 incident, the suspect who is thought to be the same man is clean shaven.
