KEY MOMENT: The Angels entered the fifth inning trailing 3-2, but a dropped fly ball by Astros right fielder Jake Marisnick on a ball hit by Collin Cowgill opened the flood gates. Erick Aybar scored to tie the game, and the next batter, Kole Calhoun, drove in two runs. The Angels would end the inning leading 9-3.

AT THE PLATE: Brett Oberholtzer was perfect the first time around the lineup, but then the Angels’ bats awakened. Calhoun, Mike Trout and Howie Kendrick each had multiple hits and two RBIs. David Freese continued his climb out from a slump with a two-run home run. The Angels have averaged nine runs a game over their nine-game win streak.

ON THE MOUND: In his previous three starts against Houston, C.J. Wilson was 0-2 with a 13.94 earned-run average. The Astros took a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the fourth inning Friday, but Wilson wound up getting the victory despite giving up seven hits and three walks in five innings.

ON THE BASEPATHS: After 147 games, Trout still has his legs. He stole a run in the fourth after he tagged up from second on a fly ball to center field and scored on a misplayed relay throw. In his next at-bat, Trout legged out an RBI triple to left-center and scored on a sacrifice fly.

STILL STREAKING: The season-high winning streak is now at nine, the team’s longest since Aug. 18-27, 2004. The Angels have won 13 out of 15.

THATCHER BACK: Left-hander Joe Thatcher was activated from the disabled list Friday. Thatcher had been out since Aug. 2 with a sprained ankle.
