Dodgers win two split-squad games

DODGERS 7, SEATTLE MARINERS 4; DODGERS 10, BREWERS 1

AT THE PLATE: The Dodgers benefited from their opponents’ defensive problems in their two split-squad games, as the Mariners and Brewers both committed three errors. In the victory over the Mariners, minor league first baseman O’Koyea Dickson hit his second home run of the spring. In the other game, rookie center field Joc Pederson remained locked in at the plate, as he was two for three with a double. Pederson is batting .714 this spring, as is Alex Guerrero, who was two for three with a home run. Catcher A.J. Ellis hit a three-run home run in the second inning off Matt Garza, the Brewers’ $50-million starter.

ON THE MOUND: Left-hander David Huff pitched two scoreless innings in his start against the Brewers. Relievers David Aardsma, Paco Rodriguez and Pedro Baez each tossed a scoreless inning in that game. Dustin McGowan and J.P. Howell were each charged with two runs. Yimi Garcia tossed 1 1/3 perfect innings in relief against the Brewers. Left-hander Chris Reed gave up the only two hits allowed by the Dodgers, as well as the only run.

EXTRA BASES: Yasiel Puig reached base three times in the win over the Brewers, getting a hit and a pair of walks. But he also made a baserunning gaffe when he dumped a bloop single in shallow right field. Puig thought about stretching the single into a double and was thrown out retreating to first base.
