Dodgers acquire pitcher Ricky Nolasco from Marlins

SAN FRANCISCO -- The Dodgers reinforced their rotation Saturday, acquiring Ricky Nolasco from the Miami Marlins in exchange for three minor league pitchers.

In addition to Nolasco, the Dodgers received an international signing bonus slot worth $197,000. The Dodgers can now spend about $2.5 million on international amateur players without being penalized.

Nolasco, 30, is a native of Corona who attended Rialto High. He made 18 starts for the Marlins this year and went 5-8 with a 3.85 earned-run average.

Over his eight-year career, Nolasco is 81-72 with a 4.44 ERA. Since 2008, he ranks fifth in the National League in wins (69) and sixth in innings pitched (1,064 1/3).

To acquire Nolasco, the Dodgers parted ways with Josh Wall, Steven Ames and Angel Sanchez. None of them are considered top-tier prospects.

The remainder of Nolasco’s $11.5-million salary will be paid by the Dodgers. Nolasco will be a free agent at the end of the season.
