Final: Brewers walk it off against Craig Kimbrel to win 5-4

Chris Taylor’s spectacular catch went to waste.

In the bottom of the 11th, the Brewers loaded the bases against Craig Kimbrel on a bunt single (that third baseman Max Muncy appeared to bobble and ultimately ate) and walk.

Then Victor Caratini lifted a two-run single to shallow right to win it.

The Dodgers are 80-35.

Final: Brewers 5, Dodgers 4

Chris Taylor saves game with leaping catch, then Dodgers take lead on Justin Turner’s RBI single

Off the bat, it seemed like Andrew McCutchen had won the game in the bottom of the 10th.

With two outs and a runner on second, McCutchen hit a line drive to center that initially seemed destined to get down in the gap.

Even as Chris Taylor closed on the ball, tracking it with a glance over his left shoulder, it appeared it would still get over his head.

But at the last second, Taylor launched his body into the air and his gloved left arm above his head. He caught the ball backhanded and held on as he tumbled to the ground. Then, after ensuring it had indeed remained in his webbing, he pumped both arms in celebration as his teammates went wild in the dugout.

It kept the game alive, and set the stage for the Dodgers to go in front in the top of the 11th, when Justin Turner lofted an RBI single to center to give them their first lead of the night.

Craig Kimbrel is coming on for the save.

Game going to extra innings

Even with a shorthanded bullpen, the Dodger were able to get this game to extras with 4.1 combined scoreless innings from their relievers.

Reyes Moronta got four outs. David Prices and Evan Phillips retired the side in order in the seventh and eighth innings. And Phil Bickford worked around a two-out walk in the ninth.

The game is going to extra innings.

Dodgers tie it again on Chris Taylor’s home run

The Dodgers have tied the game again — on a solo home run again.

Ryan Pepiot exits after another home run and more walks

Walks have been a problem in almost all of Ryan Pepiot’s MLB starts this year.

For a second-straight outing tonight, he was bitten by the home run ball, too, giving up another big fly to Christian Yelich in the bottom of the fifth that put the Brewers back in front.

Yelich’s ball was crushed, going an estimated 451 feet.

Pepiot didn’t get out of the inning, either, pulled with two outs after issuing a couple more walks.

Reyes Moronta got the last out of the frame, giving Pepiot a final line of 4.2 innings, 3 runs, 3 hits, 5 walks and 6 strikeouts.

He did get 13 whiffs, but with his five walks, he has now issued 20 free passes in 25.1 innings this year.

End 5th: Brewers lead 3-2

Dodgers tie it on home runs from Joey Gallo, Mookie Betts

After a quiet opening four innings, the Dodgers tied the game with a bang in the fifth.

With one out, Joey Gallo drove a stinging line drive over the right field wall for his third home in nine games with the Dodgers.

Two batters later, Mookie Betts launched a solo blast of his own to the second deck, his 27th big fly of the year.

Mid 5th: Tied 2-2

Dodgers squander opportunity in first, then Willy Adames puts Brewers in front

Three batters into the game, Dodgers third base coach Dino Ebel was trying to wave home an opening run.

Trea Turner, however, didn’t see him.

After hitting a one-out single, Turner was being waved home by Ebel on a Freddie Freeman double. Turner, though, slowed coming into the bag before picking up the sign. He briefly accelerated, but ultimately stopped at the bag.

From there, the Dodgers’ couldn’t capitalize.

In the next at-bat, Turner was caught in a run down between third and home after Will Smith hit a grounder to third. Max Muncy then struck out on a borderline check swing call that he instantly disagreed with.

Moments later, the Brewers were in front, after Ryan Pepiot walked Christian Yelich to lead off the inning and then gave up a two-run home run to Willy Adames on a slider up in the zone.

End 1st: Brewers lead 2-0

Dodgers lineup: Cody Bellinger sits; Ryan Pepiot on the mound

Cody Bellinger is not in the Dodgers lineup for Tuesday’s game, the first of what manager Dave Roberts said will be a two-day reset for the inconsistent center fielder who has started slumping again over the last week.

In his place, Chris Taylor will play center field and Joey Gallo will slot into left field.

On the mound, Ryan Pepiot will make his sixth start of the season for the Dodgers. He is 1-0 with a 3.92 ERA so far this season.

Right-hander Brandon Woodruff (9-3, 3.52 ERA) is starting for the Brewers.

ICYMI: Dodgers blank Brewers behind another ace-worthy outing from Julio Urías

MILWAUKEE — The Dodgers lost Walker Buehler for good on Monday afternoon.

Their 4-0 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday night, however, was a reminder they still might have another ace in the hole.

Hours after the team announced Buehler will undergo season-ending elbow surgery next week, Julio Urías helped soften the blow, grinding through five shutout innings to continue a second-half run as good as almost any pitcher in baseball.

In his last six starts, Urías recorded a 0.95 ERA and perfect 6-0 record. He has flashed renewed life with his fastball and an all-important ability to work out of jams.
