Baseball: Chatsworth is seeded No. 1 in Division I playoffs; Banning draws Granada Hills
West Valley League teams were given the top four seeds in the City Section Division I baseball playoff pairings, which is believed to be a first in City history.
“I know those are strong teams,” said Chatsworth Coach Tom Meusborn, whose team received the No. 1 seed. “There’s a lot of parity.”
El Camino Real, the defending Division I champion, is No. 2, Birmingham No. 3 and Cleveland No. 4. Banning, with a 12-game winning streak and the Marine League champion, was seeded No. 5 and also gets one of the toughest opening games in drawing Granada Hills and ace pitcher Chris Murphy, the hardest thrower in the City Section.
