Huntington Beach defeats Edison, 3-2

Huntington Beach High has been waiting patiently for the arrival of Hagen Danner, one of the stars from the 2011 Little League World Series championship team. Now that he’s a freshman, Danner is living up to the hype.
So what if Edison players were yelling from the dugout in the seventh inning with the bases loaded and two outs on Wednesday trying to pressure the 15-year-old pitcher who’s already committed to UCLA.
“The kid has pitched in front of the world,” Huntington Beach Coach Benji Medure said.
Yes, Danner knows how to deal with pressure situations, and he got a fly ball out to end the game and preserve Huntington Beach’s 3-2 Sunset League victory over the rival Chargers. Danner threw two shutout innings of relief, one more than usual. He’s supposed to be the setup man for closer Logan Pouelsen, but Pouelsen was suffering from back spasms and had to leave the game early.
Huntington Beach (8-2, 4-0) got all its runs with the help of Edison. There was a balk by starter Kaz Akamatsu that scored one run in the fourth and an error at second base allowed two more runs to score in the fifth to help wipe out a 2-0 deficit. Brian Schales had a home run to left field for Edison (11-4, 3-1).
