Boys’ basketball: Bell-Jeff puts head coach on administrative leave

After postponing two league games in the last few weeks, Bell-Jeff announced that it has placed second-year Coach Ray Witt on administrative leave in a letter sent to basketball parents on Friday.

The school has a meeting with players set for Monday to decide whether the season will continue. Athletic Director Fred Martinez said he is hopeful the season will be resumed.

Bell-Jeff’s roster was filled with foreign-exchange students, some of whom have already left.

The team is 3-14 and postponed a scheduled game against St. Genevieve on Friday. An interim coach will be named if the season continues.
