Boys’ basketball: Loaded field for Fairfax summer tournament

There’s probably not a better 16-team summer basketball tournament field than the group set to play in the Fairfax tournament June 23-28 at Fairfax High.
On June 23, Chaminade will play Lawndale at 3 p.m., Chino Hills will face Harvard-Westlake at 7:30 p.m., Loyola will play Orange Lutheran at 4:30 p.m. and Sierra Canyon will take on Compton at 6 p.m.
In the other bracket on June 24, Alemany will play Santa Monica at 3 p.m., Mater Dei will face Brentwood at 7:30 p.m., Corona Centennial will take on Crespi at 4:30 p.m. and Fairfax will face La Canada at 6 p.m.
The semifinals will be June 27 at 6 o’clock and 7:30, with the championship on June 28 at 4 p.m.
Sierra Canyon and Mater Dei are considered the favorites to win their brackets.
