Boys’ basketball: Palisades hands University its first loss
After 13 consecutive victories in nonleague games, University opened its Western League season on Monday night with a road game at Palisades. It didn’t go well.
Palisades made 11 threes en route to a 73-59 victory. Daniel Emein scored 21 points and Nick Kerorian 19. It could be a difficult week for University (13-1, 0-1), which faces Fairfax on Wednesday and Westchester on Friday. Jude Agbasi had 18 points for Uni.
Westchester defeated Hamilton, 57-35. Venice defeated LACES, 57-55.
In an East Valley League game, Grant defeated Poly, 66-50. Avo Danelian scored 17 points.
Harvard-Westlake improved to 3-0 in the Mission League with a 79-51 win over Crespi. Freshman Johnny Juzang scored 19 points. Russell Stong had 14 points for the Celts.
La Mirada defeated Glenn, 90-39. L.A. Roosevelt defeated Jordan, 53-36.
Long Beach Jordan defeated Compton, 55-42, in the Moore League. Long Beach Poly defeated Long Beach Wilson, 73-37.
Rolling Hills Prep defeated Wildwood, 83-11. Alex Garcia scored 20 points.
