Boys’ basketball: South Gate is 8-0 in the Eastern League
Rams defeat Roosevelt
Down by seven points in the third quarter, South Gate got its act together and rallied for a 59-48 victory over Los Angeles Roosevelt on Monday, improving to 8-0 in the Eastern League.
David Mixon scored 11 of his 15 points in the fourth quarter.
In the Western League, Fairfax got a scare but still pulled out a 66-58 victory over University. Jamal Hartwell and Robert McRae each scored 20 points. Jude Agbasi had 26 points for University.
Palisades defeated Venice, 56-45. Daniel Emein scored 18 points. Luis Rodriguez scored 13 points in Westchester’s 73-27 win over LACES.
In the East Valley League, Grant defeated North Hollywood, 44-35. Avo Danielian finished with 16 points.
In the Mission League, Alemany (20-3, 8-0) rolled to a 77-66 win over Loyola. Five players scored in double figures. DJ McDonald had 25 points, Earnie Sears 14, KJ Warren 11 and Fred Odhiambo and Brandon Davis 10 apiece.
Crespi upset the league’s No. 2 team, Harvard-Westlake, 71-61. Kyle Owens and Billy Oxley each had 16 points. Taj Regans, getting healthy, had 14 points. Johnny Juzang led Harvard-Westlake with 17 points.
Rolling Hills Prep defeated New Roads, 84-43. Alex Garcia had 21 points and Chris Koon 19.
