Football: Attendance for City Section finals was 5,000

John Aguirre, the City Section commissioner, said paid attendance for three City Section football championship games at Cerritos College on Saturday was 5,000.
That’s down from the more than 7,000 that attended last year’s tripleheader at the Coliseum.
The City Section, however, didn’t have to pay an $80,000 expense for holding it at the Coliseum and made money this year.
The largest crowd was for the Division III final between Belmont and Hollywood. Division II between Fairfax and Los Angeles and Division I between Narbonne and Crenshaw did not produce attendance in large numbers.
The Southern Section Pac-5 final at Angel Stadium on Saturday night also could be considered disappointing in that 13,599 showed up for a game matching unbeaten St. John Bosco and unbeaten Corona Centennial.
All four games were televised.
