Football: City Section continues to have a kicker problem
What does it take for City Section football coaches to finally say, “Enough” when their teams keep missing one conversion kick after another?
How about recruiting a competent kicker off the soccer team and practicing special teams?
This has been an issue for years. But it’s getting worse.
Venice missed three extra points and a field goal last week in a loss to Paramount. Los Angeles couldn’t make an extra point against Narbonne that would have given the Romans a stunning 7-6 lead in the fourth quarter before losing, 13-6.
The City Section is loaded with outstanding soccer players. All it takes is for a motivated coach to head out to soccer practice, evaluate, show some personality and recruit a kicker. Then practice, practice, practice.
Yes, Southern Section kickers have far more advantages, such as private coaches and long snappers attending camps.
But the City Section woes with extra points has to be solved.
