Football: Elijah Asante is named coach at Compton High
Elijah Asante, a former head coach at Carson, St. Paul and L.A. Jordan, has been named head football coach at Compton High. It’s been a goal of Asante to coach in the Pac-5 Division, and now he has made it.
Compton, though, competes in the Moore League with Long Beach Poly and was 2-8 last season but 0-10 on the field.
“It’s a big project but it can be done,” Asante said.
Asante spent last season as an assistant coach at Santa Margarita under Harry Welch.
In a statement, Asante said, “Our first order of business is to implement our philosophy that competition breeds champions. We will compete in the classroom, weight room and on the football field.”
