Football: Grant (6-0) keeps winning despite small roster
Team keeps winning with just 20 players
Who says you need 40, 50 or 60 players to succeed in football?
Grant High was down to 20 players last week and ended up defeating Verdugo Hills, 20-6, to improve to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in the East Valley League.
“It’s a challenge but something we use as motivation,” first-year Coach Franco Stasilli said.
Stasilli was a top receiver for the Lancers, went to coach eight-man football at Fulton Prep and has come back to put the Lancers in position of a 10-0 regular season.
Quarterback Cameron Perry has been a key player, passing for 1,082 yards and 14 touchdowns and running for 400 yards and five touchdowns.
The Lancers are in City Section Division II, so it will be tough to challenge the likes of Los Angeles and Hawkins but winning an East Valley League title would be pretty good.
