Football: St. Bonaventure to open season against former Taft coach
- Share via
Adam Guerra, the first-year coach at Ventura St. Bonaventure, will make his debut against former Woodland Hills Taft Coach Troy Starr and Helix High on Aug. 30 at San Diego Cathedral Catholic.
Starr said his team has lots of top underclassmen but their youth could be an issue in an opening game.
St. Bonaventure has 12 returning starters, led by quarterback Ricky Town, receiver Lavan Alston, running back Marcus Chambers and lineman Nick Capella.
The Seraphs also have nonleague games against Long Beach Cabrillo, Redlands East Valley, JSerra, Upland and Garces. They’re joining a new four-team league made up of Westlake, Oaks Christian and Moorpark.
